Obamania view from a non-US resident!
I am not a US resident. So,maybe I should not write this. But then, everyone is entitled to their opinions, right?
I just read in the news about the US150million(?) to be spent for his inauguration…Do you think that kings spend as much for their coronation? I wonder! I am also wondering something else. Why are they spending so much when there is a huge economic crisis in US? Wow! That much of money can be used in so many ways!Amazing that Obama does not mind spending so much money! And if he does not improve the US economy as expected by the so-called US voters who voted for him with hope in their hearts….too bad!He has only recently said that it might take him a year or maybe a NUMBER OF YEARS before he can do truly do something about it…So, perhaps, the ones who voted for him should vote again…he already told you in advance!Come on!
For the Obama fans, please do not misunderstand…. I am not critising him….I am just wondering…..He is definitely a good talker(what did you expect out of a lawyer?)…But,can he perform? That is what I am truly wondering!
Anyway, I would not want to take away HOPE. So, let us hope that he brings vital changes as he resoundingly promised!!(for the better, please!).
No, I am not a busybody. It so happens that the US President is powerful enough to effect the rest of the world. So, I am concerned & worried….
I have always admired US..the statue of liberty & what it stands for….
Anyway, no offense to anyone especially the passionate Obama fans…Is he a celebrity or a President? We will know as time goes on…Time will tell.. like what Bush said(I am not his fan!!!).
Anyway, Happy Obamania tomorrow for Obama fans…
Regards,
Jenna

Hello: I AM a US resident - born and bred - and I AM NOT an Obama fan. You are correct in your thinking that with our current economic crisis, it is totally ridiculous that we would be spending this amount of money on an inauguration.
There are many, many of us, here who are watching our country fail miserably. The country that we (over 50) citizens have worked and sweated to keep true to it’s original goals, is rapidly becoming something that we can no longer be proud of.
I hope you continue to pay attention; these next 4 years will see changes - yes, changes that he promised, but none for the better.
Hi. Thank you for your response, countrygirl. And sorry for the late reply.
When I was young, I read about Abe, Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt & George Washington among others. I was touched and impressed by these great men & their leadership abilities. There are other things about US that impressed me too. But, I also believe that some groups of people cannot cause more damages(putting it lightly!) to the world at large because of the power that US wields…..
My heart goes out to your country & its people especially when I started reading about food stamps and what not. It seems that this grand scale celebration is such a waste… whatever the reason or excuse.
Reading your response made me very sad that day…I can only imagine what it feels for you & others
God willing, I will be paying attention to what happens over the next few years….
Have faith for God knows best!
With warmest regards,
Jenna
