Obama’s Hubris Is Showing….an article to be read!

Creators Syndicate – Hubris is the word that comes to mind as I listen to President Obama lay out his plan to rescue the economy, create 4 million jobs, halve the deficit in four years, and give quality health care to every American. The man has big ambitions and an even bigger ego. It has been one of the most troubling aspects of his character as it has emerged on the national scene in the last two years. He seems, almost literally, to believe he walks on water. No one — no matter how talented — could accomplish a fraction of what Obama has planned in a good economy, much less the weakened one we have right now. Worse, he thinks he can do this simply by taxing the rich, a fantasy only someone who knows nothing about human behavior, much less the U.S. tax system, could possibly believe.

This is what the president has planned in the health care arena: $634 billion as a down payment on a new system that would provide insurance to those uninsured Americans, about 47 million people at last count. Sounds great — except when you consider who is going to pay for it. About half the money, the White House claims, will come from tax increases on the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans, those earning $250,000 a year or more, and savings from already existing health programs. But the math doesn’t add up. There simply aren’t enough rich people to pay for the Democrats’ plans, even if the president could figure out a scheme to confiscate every penny the rich now earn.

As the Wall Street Journal editors pointed out Feb. 26, 2009, the roughly 3.8 million income tax filers who had more than $200,000 in adjusted gross income (the IRS doesn’t break it down at the $250,000 level) paid $522 billion in income taxes, about 62 percent of all taxes paid in 2006. And if the taxman simply took every dime earned by those in the very top group — $500,000 and above — it would pay for about one year’s worth of free health insurance for the uninsured.

But there’d be no rich people left for a second or third or fourth year of such a scheme. We’ve seen this kind of plan before, in Stalin’s Russia and Mao’s China — free health care, yes, but of universally lousy quality and living standards for everyone that would make the poorest Americans look rich by comparison.

I’m not suggesting President Obama is a communist, but he is a utopian — and that’s the danger. He wants to create a perfect society in which the state takes care of everyone in need. It sounds wonderful — but the road to economic ruin and loss of liberty is paved by well-meaning men with good intentions.

The rich — as liberals like to call them — are the people in this society who earn enough to invest and create jobs so that all the rest of us can live decently. A couple earning $50,000 a year with two kids doesn’t have money left over after paying the bills to invest in the stock market or even hire one part-time worker at minimum wage.

Small and medium-size businesses create most of the jobs in our economy, and the people who start and run those businesses are the very taxpayers Obama is targeting. He says he’s going to cut the deductions these people take on their tax returns by about 20 percent — which means they’ll have less to pay their employees and less incentive to hire new ones.

And the worst part of Obama’s plan is that it will actually increase the deficit, not halve it as he promises. When individuals have disincentives to earn more money because Uncle Sam will take more of every extra penny they earn, they do the natural thing: They cut back on work. And when they earn less, they pay less in taxes. Obama’s plan will mean a rush to the bottom — where government incentives give the biggest rewards to those who produce the least. Pretty soon there won’t be anyone to foot the bill.

Maybe if President Obama had spent time in the real economy, not simply as the recipient of government or nonprofit paychecks his whole life, he’d be a little less confident in his utopian plans.

Wow! US900million for GAZA?Trillion deficits not enough?

I really cannot believe it. US900 million to be pledged for GAZA construction!!!And if I recall correctly, Hilary just visited China and made certain requests. She asked China not to demand for the loan US took from China….wait for payments…And better still, she asked China to buy more US treasury bonds!!(somehow, I do no think that China is going to do so just because Hilary asked!!!)

Wow, first it was the commotion about the stimulus bill and now, it is US900million(maybe US1billion) to be used for GAZA…on the other hand, I read about US citizens getting 1 dollar food stamps….What is Obama?A joker?Ops sorry, he has high approval ratings based on 1500 people who took the survey..Just curious…how many million people are there in US?look at the ratio taken by geniuses???US newspaper geniuses???Can’t they report unbiased news anymore???

Beautiful and gorgeous Michelle Obama -Vogue?

Published by jenna123 under Living, News, US Politics Edit This

Yes, I have been reading much about Obama “this” and “that” until I am sort of sick and tired of seeing his face and reading about him….what I mean is that there has been too much of publicity about him but, I have not “seen” any real results YET!Wonder if the results will be good or bad…

And now, I read about Michelle Obama to be featured on Vogue magazine…I read in the media about Michelle Obama being beautiful etc etc…sorry if I sound harsh or whatsover but, for the life of me, I cannot understand how some people can classify her as a beautiful woman(I mean they referred to her physical beauty!)..how could the media write about her so-called physical beauty and attractiveness…I have been looking really hard at her photos and honest to GOD, I cannot say that she is a beautiful person or really sweet-looking person or whatnot….if I had known her personally, perhaps, I may find her inner beauty…which I do not think that the media was talking about….

Are people so blinded by Obama(that includes the media) that they can come out with such comments?IT really seems very delusional and pathethic….

Perhaps, spectacles with HIGH power is necessary….and now, Vogue is featuring her…perhaps, with the same sort of comments…even air-brushing and whatnot is doing ahem…much!

Really…I am not one who likes people to emphasize on physical beauty because I believe what you are is truly important(I am not sour grapes at least based on the feedback I received about my looks…not delusional, please!)…my philosophy is such …external beauty is not permanent

Nevertheless, I just cannot digest reading such media hype!!!It is really hard to swallow!!!

poor michael phelps

Published by jenna123 under Living, News Edit This

Ok.He made a mistake. But, I think that it is a bit too harsh to suspend for his past mistake. He is not a junkie, isn’t he?He won many medals, didn’t he? He worked very hard (till his suspension). His father wasn’t there for him and he still did well. I suppose if Obama did something like that and he said sorry ETC, he will be forgiven by the OBAMA maniacs though he has not shown any evidence of results. Regards

Cheated by freelance writing buyer! What can you do?

Published by jenna123 under News Edit This

Yes. You work so hard to write the articles as per requirements. Then, you submit the articles. The so-called buyers do not pay you!

What is worse, they keep giving you feedback after feedback expecting you to do this and that! Then, you follow their so-called instructions which they differs at times!Maybe it is because they could not handle the jobs!

But, you do not get paid. You keep sending e-mails after e-mails but, there is no response. After all, you do not know where there live. You do not have their phone number. So, they use your articles as theirs; it becomes their copyright. Your e-mails are sent back to you. Maybe because they have changed their e-mail addresses to cheat others!!!

What do you do in such a situation? What can you do? Any ideas?

Hand phone usage…good or bad?

Published by jenna123 under Living, Technology Edit This

I feel mentally tired now. I have been talking for a long time through my hand-phone. I read somewhere that it is “bad” to talk for more than half an hour using your hand-phone . There is a lot radiation from hand-phone that could affect your brain cells!!!

It was said that you should limit your conversation to half an hour EACH TIME and not more than that. I have talked to people a few times for more than 1 hour. At the end of the conversation, I can feel “strong heat” from the hand-phone and even “water” on my Nokia hand-phone (no, I am not saying that Nokia hand-phones are bad….they are number one!)

There has been some study about hand-phone radiation according to models and manufacturers but, no clear and objective evidence to prove the theory about hand-phone radiation(at least as far as I know!).

Any comment or feedback is welcome.

Cheers!!!

charms, etc…do you believe in them?

Published by jenna123 under Living Edit This

Charms, etc…this topic came up in my conversation with someone today. Do you believe in them?

Let us say someone is jealous or envious of you. The person wants you to lose your popularity or stop your progress in your career. Or maybe, the person wants to create problems in your family life. People can be envious or jealous for any reason!

A person may curse and swear at your “happiness” or “wealth” or “fame”. Or the person could decide to use charms or other foul means with the intention of creating problems in your life.

You may or may not have heard of charms, etc. But, how effective are they? I wonder.

There are some people in the limelight who are truly detested or whom someone wants to create problems for. But, these people do not seem to be affected. So, do charms etc actually work?

I do not know. But, I believe that if you are the sort of person who doesn ‘t believe in such things and practise true ill will towards others and have strong faith in yourself or God, charms etc won’t touch you.

Socrates said, “Nothing really harms a good person either in life or death”"…..What do you think?

Watching TV and video could lead to depression!!!Beware!!!

Published by jenna123 under Living Edit This

Yes, that is the latest finding! Watching too much TV and video games as teenagers could lead to depression as young adults! The games and TV could inspire fear and depression in young teens. Some of the video games portray a lot of violence. When these young teens grow up into adults, their mind has been “moulded” or “impressed” with these feelings! Yes. It is better for young teens to read or watch something positive for their emotional, mental growth and spiritual growth!

Even I feel depressed each time I read the newspapers or watch the news…killing here and there; fighting here and there and now; economic crisis here and there with people losing jobs all over the world!I am very depressed!

Encourage your children to read something motivating like reading about the lives of great people in history or watching movies about their lives. These are truly inspirational! At least, I found it so when I was young. I still think that “nothing is impossible if you set your mind it!”…my leftover from reading about great people at a young age!

Cheers and have a nice day!

Eyebright herb for eye pain…do you think that it works?

I use the computer a lot. Working for hours. My eyes get very tired after staring at the computer screen for hours.

Lately, I have been getting terrible eye pain at times..

But, I don ‘t like the idea of simply popping pain killers into my mouth when I feel pain. So, I have been trying a herb called eyebright in tablet form.

I do not know whether it really works. I take one tablet every morning(in advance…so that I do not feel much eye fatigue and pain towards the end of the day!).

If there is any of you who knows about this herb, I welcome your feedback. Or maybe, you have better ideas to combat eye pain(no drugs, etc please!)

Jenna
